The MAIT network

The logistic modules and their functions:


user management:
has the role of a transport services provider and represents a customer friendly interface between the user and the MAIT system (Analogous to an information service provider in the context of the Internet).
user terminal:
the physical device that allows a communication between user and user management, such as:
  • phone, cellular phone
  • Internet
  • terminals at MAIT stops
  • terminals inside MAIT cabins



cabin management:
provides the logistic control of a cabin fleet.
carrier management:
provides the logistic control of a carrier fleet.
track management:
provides the logistic control of a track cluster.
track management:
provides the logistic control of a track cluster.
intra-net management:
keeps track of the entire net topology and position of cabins and carriers.

Communication network inside a cluster: the Clusternet

Elements:

  • nodes: communication system of each module.
  • links: between two modules, without branches.

Properties:

  • topology of the communication network equals the topology of the MAIT network.

  • auto-identification of neighbour nodes ``plug and play'': the nodes will report the following changes to the track management:
    • carrier changing track element.
    • cabin changing carrier.
    • track elements that has been added or exchanged.
    • a user-terminal, attached to a track element or cabin, has been added/exchanged.

This communication network should guarantee that the current MAIT network topology is known to the management units. The cluster communication network does not need to be developed from scratch as networks with similar properties are already available (for example USB bus).
