Smaller distribution centres

Large units of transport such as the heavy lorry favour large distribution centres in order capable of accumulating and handling economic loads. This means that many products are moved longer distances than indicated by common sense. For example a public house next to a brewery may find that the beer is transported from the brewery to a distribution centre in a distant part of the country and then transported back to the public house.
